Subject: JD 920 Dial-a-matic troubleshooting

NC Indiana
920 DAM has been trouble free for years. Stop working in the middle of the field.
Stopped, unplugged connector at feeder house one time, blew it off, plugged back in and it worked for several days.
DAM stopped again and repeated process but still not working. Several more unplugs and re-installs and maybe worked momentarily but stopped working completely.
Cleaned male and female connections with contact cleaner and some air. No luck.
Removed connector clamp on combine side and peeled back protective wrap. Wires look great and seem to be seated firmly in connector housing.
Maybe another or multiple issues with that connection? The male pin connector on combine side is secured with fasteners, cable is secured with zip ties. Maybe issue on that side?
Is there a way safe way to troubleshoot given header must be engaged or maybe look elsewhere for obvious issue?
Can't get over unplugging and plugging connector solved issue first time.
