I guess "hurting for rain" is a saying we toss around a little more lightly than y'all out west do.
We don't know what dry really is.

But for us, no rain from May 15 to July 15 is "hurting for rain." That would be 8" below the 5 year avg according to Fieldview.
The 4" from mid July to mid Aug made the crop.
