Donnellson, IA. Makes saying here easier. | Started on my organic corn. Not sure on the exact yields yet as the monitor is new for this season and I haven't taken time to calibrate it yet. My old carts don't have scales. But anyways it is better than last year. One because the weather was nicer on the moisture front, and two because I keep learning better ways to keep the field cleaner and crop fed.
I absolutely love the drago I bought for my customer and I to use(he owns the combine and one cart). The head has 360 gathering chains with the brushes and the field is very clean. I don't run super fast(3.5-4.2mph) and at those speeds I am very happy with the chopping of the residue.
I'll do a first batch and haul it out. Will report back with yields then. I think the sidedress manure made a huge difference this year. I am beyond excited to have a rain machine for 2024 to do more manure apps in season. I have been blessed in this journey I'm on. I have a truly amazing relationship with the family of the land I farm. I'm spoiled with a caring and loving wife. Kiddos that make each day exciting. More than anything I found my way back to my faith. And that changes everything.
