Eastern SD | My dad always handled the agronomy end of things, however he passed away in june and im trying to figure a few things out. I just finished combining the beans he planted this spring. Three feilds yielded 60, 65, and 71 bushel to the acre. I dont think we have ever broke the low 50s before. Im trying to figure out why this year would be so much better? He planted 1.5s this year vs 1.4s previous years. I think he mentioned dropping the population a bit but i couldnt tell you what population he planted. We have heavy black soil. It was one of the dryer years we have had in a decade or more especially earlier in the season. He never worried about white mold. Is it possible that we had white mold previous years and it being dry this year we didnt? Just trying to figure out what made this year so different. Thanks | |
