Subject: RE: How many bushels of corn per inch of rain

Looks like it is in the ball park we are looking at. Iowa average was about 190-200 for 32 inches if rain. And this gives us about210 for 30 inches of rain. That 11 inches to plant a crop is like the amount of average runoff is about 9-10 inches. So anther way to look at it is, if your crop comes up you must have 11 inches of available moisture to the plant due to rain or soil moisture. So if you want to figure the rain on your crop for total production just add the 11 inches early to the rainfall received during the rest of the growing season. So if you got 10 inches after corn is up you have 21 inches of rain So far to grow the crop?
