EC SD
Our soybeans were finally ready on Saturday, but moisture was still near 15. I did a couple of loads anyways, and was happy to get started despite the dock on delivery. On Sunday afternoon, they were running perfect at 12.5 to 13 so really had good luck there. Today, they are below 9 percent...

I decided to put the combine away for the rest of today. Why?

1) Excessive shatter losses
2) Moisture loss reducing yield
3) It is like a red-flag fire danger day out there with 90+ heat and 30+ wind. I saw a large wildfire on my way back from the elevator that is likely from a combine fire. Looked like over 50 acres burning already and really no idea how they will get that fire put out now.
4) It is only the 2nd of October and there will be plenty of good harvesting days ahead this month for me to complete harvesting before any chance of the scare stories of 18% soybeans in the field during December.
