E.Central MN | If an insured crop isn't grown on those acres a certain # of years out of 10, then you may end up going back to using an assigned T-yield which is much lower than your APH yields(so lower guarantees). When you claim a bushel loss it can lower your APH with some exceptions, have enough bad years on a farm and not only will the APH drop, but the # of claims will raise your rate of insurance. If you have enough land that doesn't have any issues then you might not notice it, but it's still affecting your rates. Multi-year issues like an ongoing drought can really reduce crop insurance as a safety net. | |
