If I’m understanding correctly, I dunno man. If I avg 40 over county for corn, I’m not sure I should be dinged for it. If the goal is to make farms smaller, then you just cap it and figure out a way to keep folks from just creating more entities.
Yup, I’ve always maintained the young producer could use a reliable safety net through modern crop insurance, but it needs to be capped, at say 500 acres. After that, no more subsidies, Still can buy it, just don’t ask your non farming neighbor to pay for more of it than you do. Now what’s wrong with that? Also, creating entities to justify getting around the rules, would fall under “scheme and devise”, which is a felony, punishable by huge fines and prison. Sure, there will always be a few Mike Stamps out there, but most won’t risk going to prison to farm more acres on the taxpayers dime.
