Completely agree about planting in a circle, as long as drops are on 5ft spacing. I've done it a little. Main reason I don't do more in a circle is the management it takes at planting, etc. But every time I walk in the field that's planted in a circle it just makes sense. The drops are hanging straight down and never pulling back through the corn.
Interesting thread. There's Nebraska, and then there's the rest of the ogallala aquifer people!!! There's very few endguns here, much less sprinklers on top of the pipe. I can't imagine our efficiency losses to move away from drop nozzles, what with pan evap rates being what they are.
