SE IL | Great post and I mostly agree. However you are forgetting the biggest subsidy of the time you mentioned is not crop insurance but the RFS. That is when the boom times in row crops really started. As for the op you will have to differentiate between the young guy who buys 40 acres and that’s all he has for 8 years vs the guy who gets 600 acres “given” to him year 1. The second guy is already getting plenty of “help” but there we go down that socialism path again of gov picking winners and losers. Of course we have been on this path for a while….
