NW Iowa. / SW Arizona | Well this is the first time I’ve done this that I know of in my 47th crop of combining. I opened up a different field about 9:00 Friday night along a creek. When I was combining along the creek yesterday I happened to notice this snapper laying here in the upside position, dead of course. It was about 30 rows into the field from the creek. I’m thankful I didn’t pick it up with the bean head and run it through the combine, I wonder what that would've done to my combine?
I texted these pictures to one of my brothers and he said it’s a good thing I didn’t run over it with a tire as our older brother ran over a turtle a time ago with a car tire and it ruined the tire as the shell was stuck in the tire. I left the turtle there but after talking to my brother I think I’ll go back where it was and throw it out of the field I’d hate to get a flat tire in the future.
Just for reference I wear size 13 shoes to compare the size of turtle.
