Meant for new clean metal, tend to leave slag pits, they do age well and stand some storage abuse. I used to use a lot of 7018's, neighbor with a welding shop used almost all 6011 and few 7018, now I use over 95% 6011 and rest is mostly 7018, Buy yourself 5# first and try them before you pull the trigger on a big lot,
