Lots of small operators have another job or business on the side, or maybe consider the farming to be what they do on the side. Their risk is not concentrated, a bad year on the farm won’t sink their ship. The scales aren’t tipped against them much now, seeing as how plenty of those guys are still farming. Even a very slight tip of the scales from eliminating subsidized crop insurance would be in their favor. |
