BTO’s are not BTO’s because of crop insurance or games some think they play. They are that way because most are very good farmers that leverage scale. You may need $100-150 on each acre. The will do it if they clear $50. Elimination of crop insurance subsidies won’t change that dynamic.



Of course it would change that dynamic. Nobody can operate on a $50 margin when chances are they’ll lose $200 one year out of five.
