I've found a nice 8x61 Westfield auger with swing away hopper to unload semi trucks with at our feed mill. I really don't want to drag a tractor out in the winter several times a week. Is it economically possible to convert it to electric? Only single phase. Also, does a product like dry distillers auger harder than dry corn?

How about different idea? You make a +300 bu “pit” run a strait @60’ auger from pit to bin. Just have to have intake covered until you learn how much it can handle. I assume permanent as hyd needed to raise, lower? I have a 8x51 on 7.5 hp fairly steep. Moves a decent amount of 24% corn. I put a 400 bu box on it. Dump from +600 grain cart (try to keep under 500 bu) start auger, unload, stop, check stuff, unload rest, get more corn Wife shuts it off when empty most years. Or I slow rate of box, let it run empty between loads.
