We had a PTO driven auger years ago we ran with both. We took the shaft off the gearbox and put about a 20" pulley on it as close to the gearbox as possible. Made a motor mount on top of the auger. We used it at a bin site with no electric running it with a tractor. We left the motor and belts on. At home we took the PTO shaft off and plugged in the motor.
