Subject: RE: Question for emergency responders

C IL

Close to me, I was actually headed near there earlier this morning when I called a friend who waved me off due to this.

Accident happened in a town about 15 miles away from this one 10 or so years ago.  FD Spraying the cloud with water knocked down the vapor cloud and then created a situation where the dirt had to be hauled off as a contaminant, instead of letting cloud dissipate.  Vapor cloud was likely drifting out of edge of town to dissipate into the atmosphere.

Clearly providing external water to attach to the NH3 is preferable to it getting it from inside your lungs and scarring the tissue, so choose appropriately according to your circumstances.  Who cares about a little dirt EPA calls contaminated when lives are at risk.

Fatalities are unfortunately being reported.

In Illinois we are advised to call the Illinois Emergency Management Agency who will do things to help solve the emergency, the other agencies who are going to cite people for things show up later once the emergency is fixed.
