east central ND | I try my best not to have any grain sitting at the elevator.
The local elevator hasn’t had regular, simple grain storage for years, maybe a couple decades. It’s only Delayed Pricing where you sign the contract giving up your right to the grain.
I understand why they do this so the can ship the grain and have more room in the bins.
What confuses me is, why do I pay storage on grain that is no longer mine? I have yet to set the price, but have givin up the right to the grain. I suppose I’m covering the cost of the elevator’s hedges on the grain I DP?
