Our 9600 came really close to a fire when the sheave bearing went bad. I'd been hearing it getting noisier. My wife was running it and she smelled it getting hot. She put her hand on the end. to see if that was it. She had a sore hand for a while. When I took it apart there was a lot of charred dust in the hollow tube. Change it out.
