We drive past several thousands of acres of solar panels on our way south and then again on our way north. Previous to panels, the land was mostly invasive salt cedar if there was anything growing at all. Contrast that to the hodge-podge of roofs in any typical city, with many of them shaded by adjacent structures and more than a few that are iffy when it comes to supporting any additional load. Not hard for me to see why panels in the desert are a much better idea and so much easier to build and service.

Here they past up the brushy crap land and put them on the very best farmland. But it’s slowing down to an extent. Development value of the land is getting to a price solar leases don’t look so good.
