Scranton | The little corn I've done is exactly what I said it would be...50 bpa under what it would have been with a couple more rains. You can JIT rain and grow a good crop with zero subsoil moisture, but you can't miss a JIT rain. We missed ours in mid august and 80 percent of my stalks died at half milk line. Also notice a lot of ears with pollination problems.
15 miles north and east its a different story. I'll be interested to hear yields out of Carroll county...they missed most of the rains this summer. But they have some awful good loess soils there. | |
