Central Iowa
I might have overreacted a little bit, here's the story. I farm a field that runs along a country club, my local school district uses the country club for a large invitational cross-country meet every year at about the end of Sept.. I always try to get at least a 5-acre spot harvested for them to have parking as they bring in about 10 other schools and usually need to park about 500 cars. Mostly in my field but also have two 2 2 acre house lots they can park in. It is always tight to plan the 5-acre parking spot to get crops off that early and I have no drying facilities. This year that field is in soybeans, I managed to pull 5 acres off a couple of days before the meet this year at 15% it was the first crop I took out this year. The day of the meet I got a call from the school superintendent saying thank you but then started complaining that I didn't take enough crop out and could I get down there and take some more. I have been sitting still for 3 days waiting for beans to dry from the weather and had switched to start taking corn. I was a little pissed that the superintendent had the gall to call and complain. This is something we have provided for the school whenever possible for over 20 yrs, it takes a little planning on our end and choosing some super early hybrids for our area to make it happen. So less yield from the small area, creates an extra time crunch during the start of fall, extra cost to handle wet grain, ETC.
I'm not upset about doing this for them and am glad I can help but the phone call to complain did not sit well with me, so I called some members of the school board to tell them and voice my opinion on the superintendent.

How would you feel if you gave a "donation" every year and then the superintendent called to complain your "donation" wasn't big enough this year?
