EC SoDak | It depends. But yes, a lot of younger farmers are required to have certain levels of coverage to reduce risk exposure to the banks. So well established, typically older farmers or those that had a silver spoon given to them, would stomp out many middle aged and younger farmers.
Like a nursing baby, we would have to wean and then look at govt red tape as well more than likely.
Many folks forget, the reason the govt went to subsidizing crop insurance is so they didn’t need an act of congress (and the fight that always comes with it) every year an area had issues. As much as folks from the earlier years like to think they did it all on their own and is a badge of honor over more recent generations, they didn’t. | |
