A car was far superior to a horse .

Yes, we all know that now. But take yourself back top when the car was in its infancy, similar to where the EV is today...

No paved roads. Car gets stuck easily. Horse easily traverses the mud.
No snowplows in the winter. Car gets stuck. Horse keeps going.
Car needs fuel. No gas stations. Gas costs money. Horse eats grain/hay grown right at home.
Car makes noise. Horse trots quietly along.
Car wears out, have to buy another. Horses mate and produce their own replacement.

I'm sure there are a dozen other reasons for not having that superior car back in those days. Just like people come up with dozens of reasons to not buy an obviously superior EV today.
