Pretty sure I know how they'd perform overnight. That's where wind generators come in as another leg on the stool, especially off shore (in Lake Superior, Lake Michigan or the Gulf). Wind usually blows at night, especially near large bodies of water. Peak loads determine the grid capacity needed and those peaks are usually on hot sunny afternoons where solar is strong. |
