middleish iowa | Several years ago we had our nieces and her husbands parents stop at our farm. They are generationally wealthy. Her FIL came out and rode in the combine for a while. He is still in one of the families oil business. He commented on how all this corn has cost hime some money. I asked if that was because loss of market share or all of the $ for ads against ethanol? Turned out it was neither. He said they were able to get the auto industry to back off ethanol vehicles because oil had a lot of stock, and many auto execs sit on oil boards and vice versa.(this sounds like maybe the bidens and trumps....lol) It was the added campaign of funds to senators and congressmen. I asked if he knew which ones were offered. He gave me a sideways glance and said "Why Junior, they all were."
