West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | The bottom ash is made into a slurry and pumped into holding ponds and then eventually covered and "stored." Ash is hauled in from other coal plants and "stored" on the mountain as well.
The small plant built on the farm next door to the ash mountain over a decade ago which was supposed to turn fly ash into "harmless" building products went boke after less than a year and a ready-mix outfit bought the plant and hauls aggregate and cement to the site to make concrete to build all the new houses in the area.
You should make a trip to Becker, MN and check it out. |
