Anyone want to place a bet on the future of electric vehicles? The guy is right about kids.

Not really the same comparison with modern transportation. I assume this is an allusion to EVs. There are ZERO alternatives to ICE for many transportation modes (Semi, long haul, tractors, heavy equipment, etc.)

The car was also a significant improvement over a horse. A car didn’t need to be fed every day. It didn’t get tired. You could ride INSIDE the car in inclement weather. The car didn’t need to be rested each day or require stops for water.

The only reason horses were around as a means of transportation for so long is MONEY. Cars were EXPENSIVE. Fuel for the car wasn’t available everywhere.

Modern EVs are not superior to existing ICS technology. The are only present in the market at the numbers now due to government handouts and regulation. The first cars received ZERO incentives from the government. They took off in the market and people bought them because they were an improvement.

If all government legislation mandating EV use or similar though blackmail (CAFE standards, etc) EVs would sell in the low single digits.
