Subject: RE: Value of Side Dress Nitrogen

Southeast WI
In our long term N rate studies zero N yields range from 50 bpa to 135 bpa and every once in awhile we've seen no response to N. That had to be from residual N from previous years and crazy mineralization in that given year. So to get 138 on 50 units of N is not unexpected.

With the current WI NOPP trials for N many farmers are doing now, it's required to pull a 2' profile nitrate sample before and after harvest to understand how much N makes it over winter in each field and what's left after. It'll be exciting to look at everyone's work this winter.
