Joelt - 9/26/2023 10:28 So once a moose is shot, what happens to the carcass? Is the meat any good?

Like most game meats it takes proper preparation, but moose steaks, roasts and other cuts are quite tasty and sought after around here.

This particular bull moose likely having a bit of age some cuts could be tough and moose certainly doesn't have much marbling in the meat.

Makes some mighty fine sausage and ground with the right blend.

Most local moose hunters want to harvest one big trophy bull but would rather fill the freezer with a calf moose than an old bull or cow.
