In 20 years the panels are about shot and the supposed money reserved for reclamation will be long gone. It's the same with the liquid CO2 and, of course, windmills. As farmers we are a bit programmed to "take the money" and ask questions later. Right now folks are taking the money and the marketing tells them this is the future (as usual). It would be better to not let it get too far out of hand so unwinding everything so it doesn't take super fund money to get it done. Unfortunately, a lot of this stuff will remain monuments into the distant future.

The only thing preventing this outcome is much better battery technology. Keep in mind batteries are big business and the industry has been working on improvements for decades with only incremental gains. I guess physics and chemistry are real.

I'm in no way against the technology, but when politics determines science, oddly enough it doesn't magically become real.
