Wisconsin | Heat does kill batteries, both high heat killing them permanently, and summer temps draining them flat. Some JD manuals have a diagram that basically shows a good charged battery can sit over winter and still start fine in the spring, but three months over summer and every battery should be nearly drained. So put a charger on them all before winter, and again a couple times over summer if they're not used every month. That's just the normal self discharge, a weak or old battery will drain faster, or one with a parasitic drain like a slightly leaking alternator or computer. | |
