Never bad advice to use rotela 15w40.

He is probably talking about zinc. As far as I know it’s not in any of the oils anymore unless you buy some super expensive racing type oil.

I wouldn’t run synthetic, it’s just asking to start an oil leak. But it can be a solution if an engine is running hotter than you like.

For old stuff that sits alot and may not get an oil change every year I put a gallon of Lucas in when I change the oil. I’ve run that stuff in some dead engines that needed rebuilt and I couldn’t and got another Season out of them. Also great in gearboxes on brush hogs, hay equipment, and so on.
