So a house is worth a million should they pay 2 million? Go to the Ferrari dealer and offer double because you want it? People spend their money on what they want all the time but I don't see many people paying way over market for something just to own it very often. Sure you could say that about all the collectibles but land now goes in the collectible class? If this is the new way of thinking farm ground likely has a rude awakening coming again at some point because I don't recall anyone from the early 80s until pre ethanol boom with the attitude about land that we see nowadays. I guess that just goes to point out my thoughts on crop insurance taking away so much of the risk is likely creating a bubble like we have seen the government do several times before.
Absolutely zero jealousy in any of my thoughts.

Own a fair amount of ground, wouldn't upset me if land price dropped 50 % . Have never bought any ground because I thought it might be worth more or less in the future. Not too interested in buying anymore currently unless the right piece comes up for sale, ROI wouldn't be a factor on what would be willing to pay.

Bought 1.5 acres with house on it several years ago, joined ground that own, that had been having issues with. Cost $64,000 , house is gone and farm the 1.5 acres. @ $64,000= $42,666 acre= end of problems.
