Eastern Shore of MD | I assume you are asking for soybeans... If so if you do a search there are quite a few threads on this over the last few weeks. Our personal desiccant of choice is Sharpen. We use it to improve harvestability - remove green leaves, and help mature stems and pods. I like it because the PHI is short (3 days) all though it generally takes 7-10 days for full effectiveness. Paraquat works better/faster but we do not use it since the PHI is long (15 days) and they will likley be ready to cut long before the 15 days is up. I have never used sodium chlorate.
Not a good idea to desiccate right before a long rainy period.
Sharpen label says 65% brown pods and 70% leaf drop for indeterminate soybeans.
Below is a pic five days after I sprayed Sharpen plus MSO plus AMS. Spray pass is split right down middle of pic with sprayed on left and not on right. What was treated was very obvious in person but less so in pic I think.
