We travel a bit and always stay in motels. Very, very few EVs at the motels yet. But still, it's disgusting how many ICE drivers and passengers EXPECT a free breakfast. What a bunch of entitled babies. We seldom eat the free breakfast but I'm sure we are paying for it anyways. If I were in the hospitality business and looking at costs, I'd say the free charging would be much cheaper than the free breakfast.

Ummm, if you travel that much and stay in hotels/motels, then surely you must see that almost every chain lists free breakfast or breakfast included in the listed amenities. It’s a rarity to not see breakfast included. So absolutely no matter what I’m driving that day if breakfast is listed as an included amenity than yes I expect it. If an EV charging station was a listed amenity wouldn’t you expect it to be available? What if free parking was listed but when you arrived there was no parking lot?

The quality of available breakfast or quality of EV charging or charging station and associated costs/values are so far different between locations that a debate about which is cheaper for the hotel is fruitless.

Edit to add: EV charging stations are very slowly starting to pop up at few select motels/hotels that I have seen. Charging them at night would be a great convenience to those who travel by EV. The value in paying for a getting a charge while at a hotel would be in the fact it’s long charging process is done while you sleep instead of while you coulda been driving.
