If that is your goal, then set a hard offer when you buy. Say you buy July futures at $5. Then set an offer that will sell if the contract ever trades through $5.50. Do that immediately, not later.

Actually, it's better to set the offer at $5.49, but that's just me.

Don't be one of those guys who gets up in the morning, sees that it traded through your price target overnight, and then watches it grind lower to expiration.


And don’t be one of those guys that sells too quick and have to watch it climb a buck right after you sell!

Just buy low and sell high, should be fine.

To add: Oh and don’t buy too early only to watch it grind lower into expiration, then roll into the carry, and watch that contract grind lower.
