| Pensions aren’t the answer. But society moving to 401ks was businesses trying to increase profits on the backs of promising their employees less.
We went from making sure “if you work for us all your life and stay loyal we will take care of you when you choose to retire” to “I can’t believe we can’t keep employees for more than a couple years”.
Hire less skilled/untrained workers for higher than they pay current employees because they are undermanned… then cry when those skilled workers leave for a higher paying job somewhere else. The generation that is taking over the workforce has no loyalty because they haven’t been shown the company’s are loyal to them.
-case by case is different. Totally understand that. And I entirely agree pensions aren’t the entire answer either. | |
