Sw mn | I was non union. I applied at the union hall and they said not hiring for at least 6 months. So I applied for a job working at centaur electric, working 2 weeks later. Year later I was offered a better job by a different company. Wasn’t looking just recruited. Control wiring was better pay while being less physically taxing. Plus I was running my own jobs instead of being a grunt.
Got a lot of offers for employment from union formans of jobs I was working at but never pursued any of them, as I seen it as a step backwards.
Use to do a lot of work at the Air Force base and the prevailing wage was less then I earned 90% of the time.
Half of the jobs I worked also had union electricians on them never had a problem with them. | |
