Subject: UAN pay scale

This article claims anyone who joined the UAN after 2008 makes $17 with a limited benefit package.

If so a 40% wage increase would only be $23.80 an hour, roughly $50,000 a year.

Doesn’t sound like a lot of money at the end of the day. I made that 23 years ago as an electrician.

Is this the correct number for anyone hired in the last 15 years?

I always thought auto factory jobs were good jobs.

After high school before I left for the navy I ran short on spending cash. So I worked for a temp agency. One day they sent me to Major Plastics were I made the plastic piece for orange shebert pushups. The big dream in the brake room was to get enough experience to get hired onto Kellogg’s. Pay was good with unlimited overtime.

Fast forward 8 years I was working at Engineered Controls doing control wiring for heating and air conditioning in multi million dollar buildings in Omaha. Making $20 with full benefits and a company vehicle with 2 years experience.

One of the guys working there quit to go work the line at Kellogg’s because of the great pay. My understanding is Kellogg’s is no longer a good job unless you are in management.

I don’t know what manufacturing jobs are supposed to pay but at the end of the day they use to be good middle class jobs. The spread between the haves and the have nots is getting too big.
