Farms are not as unique as you want to believe. Yes there are definitely regional differences and differences between soil types and drainage issues. I've stated that before and you choose to ignore that.

I farm a bit of blow sand, sand and gravel ground, sandy loam soils, loam soils, decently tile drained black sand, tile drained black 5-7% silt loams/fine sandy loams and bordering on silty clay loams and those same silt loams with zero tile where water will sit for weeks until it evaporates or drains internally when the water table drops.

I use covers on every soil in every situation and use ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT as needed to control them so they don't control me. Management is the key. When the TREND is going dry be proactive and get covers killed early. There's no upside leaving it go and NO excuse not doing it when spring conditions are trending dry.

I have over a decade of on farm trials showing adaptive management works (along with other practices needed when playing in the cover arena). These trials came about when I began working with covers and thought I knew what needed to be done to use them responsibly but I needed data to prove it. And if I was going to recommend covers to clients I had to have practical, repeatable experience similar to the success rate when using crop protection products.
