I guess the basic premise is that I wonder if this is a slippery slope where we are slowly becoming a society where we will eventually lose all the skills needed to actually navigate ourselves through life’s choices and will lead to eventually working for predetermined privileges rather than money that we can use to get there by our own choices and wisdom.
The general population is as you describe already. They don’t want to make many decisions as it is, and in some ways I don’t blame them. Things used to be simpler, however now is complicated. Most don’t want to think about the details, they just want to do their thing.
Conversely; my dad worked for a company with a pension plan, guess who got laid off one year before his pension was guaranteed……
I would argue that I would not count on these benefits long term, it seems pretty easy to loose them, get denied, or go on a run around.
ETA: Modern healthcare is a one size fit all. There seems to be a growing demand in the private practice sector which tailors more to individuals, which is sometimes not covered by insurance.
