SeMN | My turn for ideas. 1000 now days is not that much for one person . The most important things are planting timeliness and marketing. You would need a decent seedbed prep tool and a good used 30’ drill . ( if row crops are not in the rotation) . A 30’ drill can easily plant 200 acres per day . Tractor wise at least 1 180- 200 hp tractor . Spraying done by coop first , until you get going , there is a learning curve on chemicals, timing , and logistics for a sprayer . Could someone run the spring tillage ahead of the planter while you plant? Then you would need 2 tractors. Depending on rent, the more you hire done , the less you have left over . With custom work you generally have little control with timing . Bins in the future are the best investment, marketing out of the field can turn a decent crop into zero profit some years. Use agronomists for nutrient and chemical management, and if you have a good relationship with a neighbor farmer, bend their ear for any tips . Good luck ! | |
