I was wondering why you mentioned basal bark and then went back, it is 8 FEET maples, I don't think I'd want to spray those. If not basal bark, hack and squirt with glyphosate works good this time of year until the leaves change color. Can't tell you exactly when it stops working, or exactly when is best, but we're close to best.
