People make managing rye tougher than it has to be. Conservation and weed allelopathy benefits have been realized when rye is pretty small. On poverty soils, we kill most covers before they've had a chance to tap the soil profile, regardless of forecast. Wet, un-tiled ground is one place we give rye a longer leash
