New London, Wisconsin | There is a LOT of it depends. A couple of things I will put on your list to consider. Can you rent a portion of it and start smaller? Taking on the whole 1000 is going to be a nightmare. When I started I went from 7 acres to 70 to 150 to 300 to 600 and that still gave me a lot of growing pains.
I personally think it's always best to start out smaller and work up. You have time on your side. To accurately answer more we would need to know more, and if you don't wish to disclose too much I understand.
Be realistic about what you can do with your job.
Be realistic about how much time you won't have to enjoy life or family.
Be realistic about the amount of financial risk you are accepting.
Talk to family and ask for ideas on how this could be done.
Best of luck, this site has given a lot of very good advice, I expect you will receive quite a bit of that. And it gives a bit of not as good advice, that's life.
