We have been busy finishing fourth cutting alfalfa, and second cutting grass hay around here. 71 degree days and cloudy make for slow drying. Today it sprinkled off and on, so we rounded up some of the old gals and vaccinated their new calves. Another group we weaned some off the top end, and culled ones with bad bags or no teeth whatsoever. I always laugh when you get a touch of ear, or a holstein looking calf out of a BM salebarn reject you purchased. Then the ethanol folks called and wanted to get a load of syrup picked up as soon as I could, so we finished the day with that job. We got our first load of syrup last week and tried out the new trailer. It worked great. Our sign company guy came through as always with a funny set of decals. Hopefully it will help the flathat DOT boys to leave me alone. I found a company that sells an adapter to go between petroleum discharge valves, and a three inch camlock fitting, so we could unload the trailer. We installed a electric pump by the TMR parking spot, and pumped off the load. We had a bunker with 70 ground cornstalk bales in it, and we sprayed most of the load onto the pile as we stirred it with a skid loader. it worked really well - made for some cheap feed for dry cows. The only complaint was the 180 degree product going through the hose made it hard to hold after a while!
