Sleep apnea is like diabetes, if you get tested, you have it or "will get it".  Diet and lifestyle changes fixes the majority of both.

Pretty sure 99% of people over 40 who get a "sleep study"  get the positive diagnosis.  Wife did, diagnosed with it, tried many different "masks", several different machines, none worked, a few lifestyle/diet changes, and that cured more than the machines.

I've said the same thing about sleep apnea. If you have a sleep study done you WILL be diagnosed with apnea. I was diagnosed with it and don't doubt I have it, but those masks are intolerable.

Maybe because your regular doctor only prescribes the sleep study if he suspects you have sleep apnea? Stands to reason that if your family practitioner suspects the problem, the sleep study will confirm it. If you don't trust your regular doctor, maybe get a different one or get the degree.
I feel the same way about my mask. Used that style for a few years, but I just quit using it. I tried it again a month ago, and that lasted about an hour. I'm going to look into the nose pillow thing mentioned elsewhere in this thread. It's gotta be better than the full mask. My machine is actually a bipap machine, and the numbers are 4 and 8.
