Get good herding dog or 2 . A new bull if he keeps getting out and train him to come to a grain bucket in the meantime.
Hitting him is not going to make him suddenly start wanting to stay in the fence or come in when called. As far as dominance the bull is at least 5x bigger. His whole nature is to be dominant.
