Back in the day, the cribs were filled first, so the corn could keep drying. Then later in the season they made piles with snowfence rings, it was cold enough that the moisture and snow didn't matter, and they fed that first so it was gone before it got muddy in the spring. So yes, in MO, you'd want it covered outside.

If concrete slab it will help with rats if you can stay away from the edge so they can't dig under it from the safety of the pile. |
